    Brussels, 28 February 2017 – To kick-start discussions at EU Industry Day and beyond, Cefic has published a new report that introduces the chemical industry in each European member state as well as overall for Europe.

  2. Carcinogens & Mutagens Directive: Industry and social partners’ unite for greater worker health & safety

    27 February 2017

    Brussels, 27 February 2017 – Cefic has united with European social partners including industriAll and the European Chemical Employers’ Group to endorse the European Commission’s review proposal for EU-wide binding exposure limits in the Carcinogens and Mutagens Directive and calling the Parliament to respect the proposal as it moves through the legislative process.

  3. EU chemical industry President welcomes Competitiveness Council endorsement of vision for industry in Europe

    21 February 2017

    Brussels, 21 February 2017 – Following a speech by Dr. Hariolf Kottmann, Cefic president and CEO of Clariant before the Competitiveness Council, Commissioner Bienkowska has endorsed a vision for the future of manufacturing industry in Europe. The speech pointed to how Europe is on the cusp of losing its hold as a major world industrial power, and urgent action is required.

  4. EU chemicals join 92 sectors asking Commission to fulfil promise for EU industry strategy

    Brussels, 16 February 2017 – Cefic and more than 90 other industry associations in Brussels have signed a joint declaration today calling on the European Commission to reaffirm its vision for industry's role in Europe and increase its attractiveness as a destination for investment.

  5. Reform of EU Emissions Trading on the way: EU chemical industry welcomes positive vote on EU ETS

    15 February 2017

    Brussels, 15 February 2017 – Cefic congratulates the European Parliament under the leadership of MEP Ian Duncan, on the result of today's Plenary vote on the EU Emissions Trading System. The result is a successful overall compromise, that will safeguard jobs and help Europe move to a low carbon economy.

  6. New Cefic specialty chemicals website goes live

    07 February 2017

    Brussels, 7 February 2017 – Cefic has launched a new website focusing on specialty chemicals, to respond to the growing demand for information. Specialty chemical clusters represent over 50 sectors of the European fine and consumer chemicals industry, and its membership counts more than 80% small- to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs).

  7. No to discrimination: Chemical industry calls for fair emissions trading system

    03 February 2017

    Brussels, 3 February 2017 – Ahead of a plenary vote on 14 February, the EU chemical industry calls for a fair reform of Europe’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) together with other affected European manufacturing industries.

  8. Time to put industry at the heart of the Energy Union

    Brussels, 2 February 2017 – If EU lawmakers want to truly champion a clean energy revolution, the role of Europe’s manufacturing industry as energy producer and consumer will be a key success factor, said Cefic, reacting to Vice-President Sefcovic’s State of the Energy Union speech.

  9. Chemical sector responds to Horizon 2020 interim evaluation consultation

    Brussels, 24 January 2017 – In its latest report, Cefic welcomes the achievements of the Horizon 2020 Framework Funding Programme but calls for strong commitment to ensure that the programme translates into industrial competiveness, furthers the development of Key Enabling Technologies, reinforces intellectual property strategy and increases successful industrial participation in order to deliver impact for Europe.

  10. Cefic and ICCA: Supporting responsible chemical management across the globe

    20 January 2017

    Brussels, 20 January 2017 – Cefic has announced it will take on the secretariat of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) for a two-year term. ICCA unites major chemical producing countries of the world through their national representative industry bodies.
