Conclusions

The word ‘conclusion’ may seem inappropriate in the context of Responsible Care since we see Responsible Care as an on-going activity without any termination point. However, we do need to highlight significant developments since our last report.

The overall performance has improved but there is much still to do. Significant progress has been made since the last report two years ago.

Increased support is being given to member countries.

The evaluation of the status of each country programme has been improved.

There is a need to review implementation in more detail with the very few Federations that appear to be making little progress.

Verification is happening but not as speedily as we would wish.

Quantitative data on HS&E performance is becoming the norm.

Partnerships have been considerably extended.

We need to have greater stakeholder involvement.

The success stories demonstrate a wide variety of very positive activity and achievements.
