Accurate reporting of performance is at the heart of Responsible Care. In Europe, Cefic collects data on the industry’s health, safety and environmental performance. Open reporting enables companies and associations to share best practice and so improve their performance. In 2010, more associations have reported data than in 2009 so total figures may be higher. The data refers to 2008 performance.
In addition, the environmental reporting of some associations is now based on data published by authorities into the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR), rather than gathered through member surveys. Overall, 22 European countries are covered in the latest Cefic Responsible Care data: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom. On specific indicators the data from some countries have not been used. There are several reasons for this. The national industry may not have such emissions or national associations may have not yet reported KPI data for a sufficient number of years. In total, Cefic collects data on 16 Key Performance Indicators.
