The Cefic Responsible Care Awards 2010 scheme attracted a record number of entries, challenging our independent judging panel with a diverse selection of more than 50 projects from 10 countries. Entries featured :
NOF Metal Coatings Europe scooped the overall Responsible Care award for development of an innovative coating technology that offers clear health and environmental benefits in a more resource efficient, cost effective way. Judges praised the robust, innovative nature of the NOF submission. The high-tech coating, mainly used for small parts such as automotive sector bolts and fasteners, combines an impressive decrease of VOC emissions and eliminates te harmful compound hexavalent chromium. Fascinating foundries (winner of the SME category)
Foundry chemical products manufacturer Hüttenes-Albertus Chemische Werke GmbH won the Responsible Care Award in the SME category with submission of a project on the installation of foundries in schools. The scheme brings together different stakeholders to support core subjects including maths, information technology, natural science, and technology. The judges described it as an outstanding initiative to engage with schools. Read more.
Cefic past President Christian Jourquin, who presented the awards at the Cefic annual general assembly in Rome said: “The awards competition this year was the most intense in its history. The winning projects clearly highlighted how the chemical industry is high-tech, innovative and sustainable.
"Responsible Care is the chemical industry’s most unique and well-regarded approach to enhance sustainable development through corporate responsibility,” he said, adding that the entries “demonstrate the added value of Responsible Care to chemical businesses, society and the environment.”
