Cefic comments on Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MIFID)

    28 January 2011

Cefic sees as an important first step to include ETS allowances markets in the review of European financial markets regulation, namely the Market Abuse Directive (MAD) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MIFID). These markets should be supervised by the European Securities and Markets Authority (Esma). Cefic believes the proposed framework would benefit market participants by having well-stated rules for access, greater surveillance and an efficient and secure trading environment, and has recently sent its comments to respond to a Consultation organised by DG MARK on MIFID.
