Security Code Guidance

This document is designed to assist companies in implementing the Responsible Care Security Code along seven management practices.

Guidelines for the security of the transport of dangerous goods by road

These guidelines provide a list of practical options on how a company can meet the requirements of the Chapter 1.10 on Security Provisions in ADR 2017. They are the result of a cooperation between 11 industry associations, which represent a large part of manufacturing, transport, distribution and forwarding industries, involved in the transport of dangerous goods. These Guidelines have been designed to provide as comprehensive a range of technical and operational options as possible, from which users can select their optimum mix measures. The current guidelines replace a previous version (dating from 2015) and are in line with the Security Provisions of ADR 2017.

Security Vulnerability Assessment Tool

This tool helps companies conduct a security vulnerability assessment (SVA) of chemical sites in 6 steps.

  • A worked example shows how an assessment can look like.
  • It includes guidelines for an operator security plan and a template ready for use.
  • A set of blank worksheets can be used for progressively filling in the results when carrying out an SVA.
  • An overview of safety and security legislation in EU countries is included as well.

As the documents contain sensitive information, they are available to members on Cefic’s extranet (Click-in cefic).

This tool is the result of the EU project IMPROVE. A new project, IMPROVE II shall provide an electronic version in 6 languages.
