Who Are We?

The Chemicals Industry Profile is the first section of the annual Cefic publication Facts & Figures.  The section provides a breakdown of 2010 world chemicals sales, which measured €2353, up 26.9 per cent in value terms compared with 2009, the a year of when the economic and financial crisis was in full swing. The section also measures trade flows by region, highlighting Europe’s large contribution to total global output of chemicals. EU chemicals industry output by country, destination and structure are also included in the section.  The Chemicals Industry Profile gives a first-hand look at the sector’s historical contribution to employment and gross domestic product within the 27-member European Union.

Taken together, Europe, Asia and North American Free Trade Area, account for 92.7 per cent of world chemical sales.
