Use Mapping for the production of Polyester Powder Resins
In line with the approach of other European Industry Associations, PPRM has performed a Use Mapping exercise covering the production of Polyester Powder Resins. The ECHA use descriptor system has been used, (details about which may be found in the Technical Guidance Document R12 : Use Descriptor System).
REACH New! An updated version of the use mapping for the Industrial Manufacture of Polyester Powder Resins, now including Operational Conditions (OC) and Risk Management Measures (RMM) has been published.

Note this table may be subject to future amendment.
The PPRM group strongly encourages our raw material suppliers to consider these uses when they are performing the Chemical Safety Assessment on their substances or to pass this information up the supply chain.
Due to the generic nature of this GES, the following clarifications should be taken into consideration :
For the most monomers which are used in resin manufacture, this GES is relevant as far as the distillation/evaporation step since the life cycle of the vast majority of the monomer ends when it has been reacted to form a polymer.
With respect to substances which are classified as being either CMR or PBT certain process categories are not applicable. In these cases we would recommend a direct contact between the raw material supplier and resins manufacturer.
For raw materials which are not consumed during the polymerisation such as additives, we invite our suppliers to consult the corresponding Descriptor of Use tables concerning the manufacture and industrial application of powder coatings and inks which may be found on the CEPE association website.
