Wolfgang Büchele is Chief Executive Officer of Linde AG since May 2014. Since March 2014 he is a Member of the Board of Directors of Kemira Oyj, Finland.
Since July 2009 he is Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Merck KGaA, as well as Member of the Board of Partners at E. Merck KG, Darmstadt, Germany.
Since January 2016 he is Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations.
Wolfgang Büchele was born in 1959 in Geislingen, Germany. He earned his doctorate in the special field of inorganic Chemistry in 1987 from the University of Ulm, Germany.
From 2012 to 2014, he was President and CEO of Kemira Oyj, Finland.
In 2011 he was appointed CEO and Member of the Board of BorsodChem Zrt. In 2008 Wolfgang Büchele joined BorsodChem Zrt, first as CEO, then as CEO and Chairman of the Board. He has also served as senior advisor for Permira Beteiligungsberatung GmbH since 2008.
Between 1987 and 2007 he worked for BASF AG, Ludwigshafen, Germany and Hongkong, China. He was President Eastern Europe, Africa and West Asia and President Performance Chemicals Division. He ended his career with BASF as President Fine Chemicals Division in 2007.
Wolfgang Büchele is a Member of the Cefic Board and Member of the Board of the German Chemical Association (VCI). Besides this, he chairs the North Africa Middle East Initiative of the BDI (German Industrial Association).
