Frédéric Gauchet graduated in 1985 from Ecole Normale Supérieure, the most prestigious French college in Paris for science and literature. He majored in biology and chemistry, and also holds a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry, Aggregation in physical sciences, college teacher in Chemistry and Physics (1984-1988). Frédéric Gauchet is also an Ingénieur au Corps des Mines (1985-1988), the elite business administration programme reserved for top 10 graduates of Ecole Polytechnique and three graduates of Ecole Normale Supérieure.
His career began in 1988, with Sanofi-Synthelabo Inc (New York, USA) where he held the position of Assistant to President of North-American Operations for two years, then as Plant + R&D Manager within Sanofi-Synthelabo Chemie, in France for another two years.
In 1992, he joined Total, Paint Division (Paris) as Vice-President, Strategy & Planning and two years later, he moved to Vinci as Managing Director Vinci Concessions. Vinci is the world leader for construction, civil engineering and concession business.
Seven years later, Frédéric Gauchet joined Dufry Group (formerly Weitnauer), in Basel Switzerland as CEO and Board’s director. Dufry, a privately owned Swiss company, had been known under the name of Weitnauer as a European leader in the duty free wholesale business for more than a century.
In 2004, he founded Minafin SaRL (Luxembourg). Minafin is the holding company of the Minafin Group, which develops and manufactures active ingredients, organic intermediates and specialty fine chemicals for the life science industries and technical applications, since its inception in 2004.
The group operates under five trademarks: Minakem (that includes Minakem High Potent), Minasolve, Pennakem, Minascent and Pressure Chemical managed as distinct business units.
Its consolidated net sales amount to EUR 135 million and its six European and American sites employ 750 people, 60 of whom are devoted to R&D activities. In 2016, Minafin move dits headquarters from Luxembourg to Belgium and acquired the Belgian nationality.
