Joao Fugas

João Jorge Gonçalves Fernandes Fugas is since 2003 the CEO of CUF Industrial
Chemicals Area, in the sites of Estarreja, Pombal, Loulé and Galicia (Spain). Since 2001, member of the Executive Committee of the Board of CUF, from José de Mello Group.

President of APEQ (Portuguese Association of the Chemical Companies), Director of CIP (Confederation of the Portuguese Industries) and was President of APIGCEE (Portuguese Association of the Major Consumers of Energy).

From 1998 – 2003 he was the president of the Executive Committee (CEO) of the CUF
Companies in Estarreja – Quimigal and Uniteca from the José de Mello Group.

From 2000 – 2003, was a non-executive member of the Board of Efacec SGPS, representing José de Mello Group.

From 1985 – 1998 was Board Member of several Industrial and Services Company from SONAE Group.

 From 1982-1985 was Head of the Technological Department of the Aromatics Complex from GALP in the Porto Refinery and from 1977-1980 was Senior Process Engineer and Research member of SHELL in Holland.

Is a member of the Portuguese Engineers Association; member of the Associação de
Estudos Superiores de Empresa (AESE); member of the Association of Former Students of the National Defence Course (AACDN); and a member of the Oporto Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club. He is fluent in English and French, and has good knowledge of Dutch and Spanish.
