Jacques van Rijckevorsel joined Solvay in 1974 on graduating in Civil Engineering from the UCL. After five years in research in Belgium and nine years in the Plastics Processing in Italy, he joined the Central Management of the Plastics Processing in Brussels in 1988.
In 1991, he was posted to head up the Subsidiary Draka Polva in The Netherlands, returning in 1996 to head up the Strategic Business Unit Vinyls. He joined the Solvay Executive Committee in 2000 as General Manager of the Plastics Processing Sector, then of the Plastics Sector when it merged with the Plastics Processing Sector in 2004. In 2001, he was appointed Group Innovation Sponsor.
He also chairs the Group’s cross-sector New Business Board. In 2008, he was elected President of PlasticsEurope, the Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe. In 2010, he was elected President of the Belgium-Luxembourg Chambre of Commerce for Russia and Belarus.
